Miles Franklin Chancellor, 87, of Memphis, Missouri, passed away November 18, 2010, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

He was born January 4, 1923 at Rutledge, Missouri to John R. and Stella Grace Billups Chancellor.

He attended country schools in Scotland County, graduating from the 8th grade.

He served in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge in January, 1946.

He married Roberta "Bobbie" G. Enness on January 10, 1948 at Kirksville, Missouri and to this union two sons were born.

Miles was a farmer in Scotland County and worked for Pepsi Cola Memphis Bottling Co. Inc. from 1960 until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial Post 4958 and was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed woodworking and bowling in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie, of Memphis, Missouri; two sons, Don Chancellor of Memphis, Missouri and Larry Chancellor and his wife, Kathy, of Pampa, Texas; a grandson, Robert and a granddaughter, Mellisa. Also surviving are three sisters; Mary Norton of Olathe, Kansas, Kathleen Tripp of Volin, South Dakota, Garnet Tripp of Kahoka, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Donna Chancellor of Vermillion, South Dakota, Shirley Ruth and her husband, Ivan, of Memphis, Missouri and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; Max Chancellor, Paul Chancellor, Joe Chancellor, Lee Chancellor, Lyle Chancellor; three brothers-in-law, Denver Tripp, Merle Norton, Dennis Tripp and a sister-in-law, Nadine Chancellor.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at the Memphis Funeral Home. Military services will be given by the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial Post #4958 V.F.W. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Memphis Cemetery and left at or mailed to Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, MO 63555.
