Henry was the second of ten children born to William Samuel and Matilda Jane (Rainey) Baker. He married Annie Belle Caraway in 1913 and they were the parents of seven children: Velma Curtis, Herman, Texa, Exa, Mercille, Doris Louise and Edwin.
