Mr. Pierce proudly served his country for two years in the United States Army. D.B. was a member of South Haleyville Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School. He was also a Baptist minister and was a song director. He retired from Illinois Central Railroad after many years of service as a conductor. At a very early age, he was nicknamed "Dick" by his mother and daddy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11:00 am at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville. Burial will be in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
D.B. was preceded in death by his wife, Jewelene Pierce; parents, Marshall and Ella Mae Pierce; and brother, Frank Pierce
