Ed remained single and lived with her sister's family, Cornelia "Kate" and George Barr in Clinton, Iowa. It was here that her skills as a seamstress were in great demand - charging $1 a day plus dinner and supper.

Miss Edna Ellen Burdick
“Edna Ellen Burdick died at the home of her sister, Mrs. G W Barr, in Clinton, at 7:20 Thursday morning. The deceased was born in Ogle County, Illinois - Jan 9, 1862. She lived there until 18 years of age, when she came to this city.

She was a general favorite, always bright and cheerful and charitable. She had drawn about her a large circle of friends, who will sadly miss her. She leaves an aged father, Timothy Burdick, of Rock Falls, Illinois; two sisters, Mrs Mattie Burns, of Davenport, Iowa and Mrs. G. W. Barr, of this city; and six brothers – A. J., Charles, and Warren of Rock Falls, Illinois; Edwin of Sterling, Illinois; John of Union City, Tennessee; and William of San Francisco, California.

Funeral services will be held at the sister’s residence at one o’clock Friday afternoon. The remains will be taken to Rock Falls at 2:40. This makes the twelfth child that Mr. Burdick has buried.”
