Alonzo William "Bill" Brinson, 82 years of age, of Mount Carmel, Ohio, formerly of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, November 16th, 2014 in in Milford, Ohio.

Bill was born in Drum, Kentucky on November 29th, 1931, son the late Nannie F. Meece Brinson and Willie E. Brinson. He served his country in the United States Marines as Corporal in January 2nd, 1952 and Combat Duty in the Korean Conflict where he received the Korean Service Medal and the United States Service Medal. Bill was very proud to have served his country and went to Arlington National Cemetery on an honor flight. Bill never saw a stranger and all children got his attention. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Bill was survived by his loving wife, Violet Sears Brinson; two daughters, Amy Joy (and Gary) Bryant and Tammy Rana (and Trevor) Gilpin of Ohio; one granddaughter, Amber (and Dustin) Carter; one great grandson, William Kolton Carter of Kentucky; three brothers, Garland (and Joyce) Brinson, Starland (and Doris) Brinson, and Cecil Pete (and Joan) Brinson, all of Somerset, Kentucky; two sisters, Janett (and Jack) Woodall of Somerset, Kentucky and Margaret Hall of Ferguson, Kentucky; three sister-in-laws, Thelma Brinson of Somerset, Kentucky, Ruby (and James) Carty of Somerset, Kentucky, and Jean (and Wayne) Sumpter of Ohio; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Enoch Brinson, who departed this life on January 5th, 1986 and Nannie Florence Brinson, who departed this life on March 23rd, 1973; four brothers, Ernest "Ernie" Brinson, who departed this life on December 19th, 1981, Arnold Brinson, who departed this life on September 25th, 2014, Carvel Eugene "Todd" Brinson, who departed this life on May 19th, 1980, Leo Brinson, who departed this life on May 31st, 2011; and one sister, Genie V. Brinson, who died in infancy on June 12th. 1928.

Visitations were held on Tuesday, November 18th, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Glen Este Baptist Church in Batavia, Ohio, where he was a member.

Visitations were also held at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky on Thursday, November 20th, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the funeral services following at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Brother Harold Harris officiating.

Burial followed in the Poplarville Cemetery.
