James was born in Drum, Kentucky on July 26th, 1938, son of the late Willie Enoch and Nannie Florence Meece Brinson. Throughout the years he worked in factories, including Cumberland Wood & Chair, and he farmed as well. He was a member of King Bee Baptist Church where he loved attending. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and was a member of Scenic Beagle Club. He was a great carpenter, a very unselfish man who would help anyone out. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and attending family centered events.
James was survived by his wife, Doris Meece Brinson, whom he married in the White Lily community on November 6th, 1959; one daughter, Pamela S. (and Earl) Durham of Mount Vernon, Kentucky; one son, James "Mark" Brinson of Somerset, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Eric (and Brandi) Vaught, Kyle (and Marlana) Vaught, Katherine Brinson, and Gillian Brinson, all of Somerset, Kentucky; ten great grandchildren, Justin (and Mia) Vaught, Jared Vaught (and Heather), Marissa Vaught, Taylor Vaught, Brendan Vaught, Julissa Holt, Tucker Vaught, Shelby Vaught, Austin Vaught, and Kyler Vaught; one great-great grandson, Lucas Vaught; one brother, Cecil "Pete" (and Joan) Brinson of Grundy, Kentucky; two sisters, Janet Woodall of Somerset, and Margaret Hall of Ferguson; three sister-in-laws, Thelma "Cookie" Brinson, Joyce Brinson, and Birdena Brinson; special friends, Dwayne and Letha Woodall; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Enoch Brinson, who departed this life on January 5th, 1986 and Nannie Florence Brinson, who departed this life on March 23rd, 1973; six siblings, Ernest (and Hazel) Brinson, Carvel Eugene "Todd" (and Fannie) Brinson, Alonzo William "Billy" (and Violet) Brinson, Leo Brinson, Arnold Brinson, and Garland Brinson; and one sister who died in infancy, Genie V. Brinson.
Visitations were held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27th, 2020 at the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28th, 2020 in the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Eric Vaught, and Bro. Vestal Meece officiating.
Burial followed in the Clay Hill Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
