John L. Fletcher, 79, of Johnston City, father of Cecil Fletcher of Olney, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday at Marion Memorial Hospital.

His three sons all entered the coaching profession. Cecil is former head basketball coach at Olney, Vergil is head coach at Collinsville, and Jack is head coach at Marion.

Also, surviving are five daughters, 20 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a sister.

Mr. Fletcher was a retired butcher, and for 30 years was manager of Daniel's Grocery in Johnston City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Munnan & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with burial in New Rose Hill Cemetery at Marion.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Friday.
