Rosie May Mitchell JOHNSTON CITY Rosie May Mitchell, 85, formerly of Johnston City, passed away at 5:27 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, in Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville with her family present. Services will be at 11 a.m. Mitchell Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, in Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with Pastor Gene Fox officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church of West Frankfort. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. She was born May 25, 1922, in Williamson County, the daughter of John and Etta (Logan) Fletcher. She married Delmer R. Mitchell Sr. on June 9, 1940, in Warrenton, Mo. He preceded her in death Oct. 4, 2003. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of First Christian Church of West Frankfort. One of her favorite outings was when she met once a month with her high school classmates for lunch. Her children referred to her as the perpetual homecoming queen, and she was an amazing example to all of her family and friends whom she loved and enjoyed with all of her heart. She is survived by two sons, Delmer R. Mitchell Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Quincy, and Judge Richard T. Mitchell and wife, Stephanie, of Jacksonville; three daughters, Allona Mitchell of Jacksonville, Martha Impastato and husband, Bruce, of Elizabethtown and Roseann Wagner of West Frankfort; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Mauzy of Johnston City and Ruby Kay Bozarth of Murphysboro; two brothers, Vergil Fletcher and wife, Violet, of Collinsville and Jack Fletcher and wife, Pat, of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
