Athens – Margaret Gant, 88, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in Athens.

Margaret Ferguson Gant was born March 28, 1926 in Crockett, Texas the daughter of Julius Alto Ferguson and Ruth Mae Willis Ferguson. She married the late Kenneth Mearl Gant in 1943 and spent many years serving alongside him as a Pastor and Missionary to the Navajo Indians of New Mexico. She loved sewing, quilting and had a green thumb, growing various flowers and plants. Margaret also enjoyed arts and crafts as well as stamp and rare coin collecting. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Crescent, Oklahoma. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth Mearl Gant, son Kenneth Ray Gant, sisters, Ruby Ferguson Petty, Alta Mae Ferguson and brother James Ferguson.

She is survived by her two sons, Ernest Paul and Linda Tanton Gant of Coupland, Texas David Wayne and Kristi Billings Gant of Athens; seven grandchildren, Teresa Michelle Leuvanos, Shanna Kay Bates, Darla Renea Gant, Kimberlee Ann Gant, Adam Paul Gant, Tavis Dwayne Gant, Jamie Collen Gant; seventeen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
