An Old Soldier Dead
Last Friday evening at his home in this city occurred the death of Walter Rose, better known as “Uncle Dick” Rose. He had been in bad health for some time and on Thursday he had a stroke of paralysis.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon and were in charge of the Grand Army. Rev. C. R. Hudson preached the funeral sermon. The deceased was seventy-nine years old and was a pleasant and well-liked man. He was formerly a blacksmith. During the war he saw service with the 9th Kentucky cavalry.

W. J. Rose, who was stricken with paralysis Thursday of last week, died Friday night at 7:30 o’clock. He was seventy-nine years old. During the war he was a member of Co. I. 9th Ky Cav. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock from the residence, conducted by Rev. C. R. Hudson.
