Stationed in St. Louis, Mo. he met Catherine(Jeanne)Powell and they married in 1949. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before her death in 2004. H.B. received a B.A. in business from Texas Tech in 1951. He and Jeanne then moved to Tahoka. Active in the city council and serving many years as Mayor Pro Tem, H.B. also was a member of the Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, T.Bar Country Club, and the First Baptist Church. As a Rotarian, he was honored to receive the Paul Harris Award.
H.B. loved the town and people of Tahoka. He was thrilled to see the completion of the Life Enrichment Center on property that he had donated. H.B. passed away on Aug. 5. 2007 in Dallas after moving there to be close to his sons.
He is survived by three sons, Jim and wife Nancy of Dallas, Gary and wife Sherri of Tomball, and Terry and wife Susan of Dallas. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Amy and husband Matt Hudspeth, Christy, Marissa and Brandon, Zac and wife Megan, Wesley, Matthew and Meghan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Tahoka.
Interment will follow in the Tahoka Cemetery under the direction of White Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joe Arrington Cancer Research Center at 4101 22nd Place , Lubbock, Tx. 79410.
