Fremont Merriman was the son of Charles M. Merriman and Paulina Burbank. Brother of Charles Jr., Zachary, George, Paulina, and James. Husband of Ellen Smith. All the family history on the Merriman's can be found under other Merriman family names, as they

Fremont also lived on the family farm, just east of Wayne, as a young man. He was well remembered as one of the old motormen of the former D.U.R. and held that position until this line ceased operations. It was when he became employed by the street car company in 1889 when he moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, just a short distance east of Wayne.
