Reuben Klingler was born in Perry County, Ohio on May 23, 1844. When about three years of age he came with his parents to Hardin County. Early in life he united with the St. Paul Reformed Church, three miles southwest of Ada, of which he remained an exemplary member to the end of his days. He enlissted in Co. A. 118th Regiment, O.V.I. in August 1862. He was with the regiment and participated in all its engagements and was mustered out of service at Saulsbury, N.C. in 1865. He was married to Miss Margaret S. Fisher on April 23, 1867. The union was blessed with three sons and four daughters, and these, with three grandchildren, all survive. Faithful to his God, his country and his family, he fell asleep in Jesus, after a brief illness, April 8, 1896. Respected by all who knew him, he will be greatly missed; but as our loss is his eternal gain we will not repine but bow in submission to Him who "doeth all things well."
