From the Ada Record, Jan. 25, 1922
Amos Klingler, son of David and Sarah Klingler, was born in Hopeville Township, Perry County, Ohio, July 12, 1842. In the year 1848, at the age of 6 years, he moved with his parents to Hardin Co., Ohio, where he has ever since lived and is counted one of the old settlers of this part of the country.
For several years he has been in failing health. He passed to his reward in the evening of January 19, 1922, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 7 days.
In his early infancy he was baptized by Rev.S.K.Denis, and confirmed a member of St. Paul's Reformed Church Dec. 12, 1858 by Rev.G.M.Albright.
On Sept.4, 1862, he was united in marriage to Miss Lucinda Greenwalt by Rev.G.M.Albright. This union was fruitful of a large family, 7 sons and 1 daughter. Besides these 8 children, all living, there are 50 grandchildren, 49 great-
grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. With the exception of two or three grandchildren, these are all living. With all this large family he leaves also to mourn their loss his aged life companion and a host of other relatives and friends.
From this sketch it will be seen that he grew up with the life of this community and has been identified with its activities during all these long years and no doubt has had much to do with the moulding of its life and character. His father was one of the charter members of St.Paul's Church and did much to plant the church here. We notice by the record that he himself took up the work of the church in early life. He served the congregation as an elder for many years. He was its representative at the usual judicatories of the church and was active in all the interests. He never lost faith in his Redeemer and died in full assurance of the reward.
Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev.S.L.Runkel on Sunday morning at St. Paul's church. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
