Malanchthon W. Klingler, son of David Klingler and Sarah (Brocies) Klingler, was born June 11, 1848 in Perry County, Ohio and died April 22, 1937 at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 11 days. He was a member of a family of 18 children. In August 1843, he, with his parents moved to Hardin County, Ohio on a farm near Ada where he grew to manhood. He was baptized in infancy by the Rev. Dachand, was catechised from the Heidelberg catechism and was confirmed by Rev. George M. Albright, November 8, 1862. He became a member of St. Pauls Reformed Church, which was built on his fathers farm. On November 4, 1869, he was joined in Holy Wedlock to Margaret Anspach. To this union was born six children: Harvey Delmore, Sarah Priscilla, Ida Elizabeth, Jacob Ira, Clarence Franklin and Calvin Paul. On July 31, 1881, he, with his family arrived in Paulding County and settled on a farm north of Briceton. On October 12, 1900, his wife died and left him with two boys to care for. After the death of his wife, he sold his farm and moved to Paulding. Mr. Klingler was then married to Mrs. Missouri C. (Clark) Voke. Mr. Klinglers family at this time were George Voke and Ruby Voke, Paul Klingler and Ira Klingler were also living at home. November 27, 1923 Mrs. Klingler died. Mr. Klingler was again married. This time to Mrs. Elizabeth (Anspach) Klingler. On February 20, 1930, Mrs. Klingler died.
In 1903 he became a member of the Presbyterian Church where he was elected to the solemn office of Elder in the church, the duties of which he fulfilled as best he could.
Mr. Klingler died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.F. Adam of Erie, Penn., where he had made his home for the last few months. He is survived by his daughter, two sons, Frank of Lima, Oh. and Paul of Paulding, O., his sister Mrs. Amelia Guyton of Alger, O. and two brothers, Jacob of Lima, O. and Cyrus of Fenton, Mich., and one step-daughter, Ruby Voke of Paulding, O. He also leaves twenty grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
