John F. McAsey was born January 23, 1902 and departed this earthly life on April 24 at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 1 day. He lived in the Holton community most of his life.
He worked several years at the Gossip Printery. He then proceeded to Stockton where he managed a grocery store. During World War II, he worked at an airplane factory in Buffalo, New York. Later, he returned to Holton where he spent the rest of his life. He loved the outdoors and had many creative hobbies. He was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Rose, and three brothers, Edward, Michael and Matt.
Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Julia Flynn, Denver; Mrs. Agnes Lundstrom, Denver; Mrs. Grace Flynn, Mayetta; and Mrs. Ellen Kidney, Ottawa; two brothers, Tim McAsey, Doniphan and William McAsey, Holton, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were on April 27 at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church with Father William Kauffman officiating.
Pallbearers were: Tom McAsey, Harold Flynn, Orville Hutfles, Paul Bohannon, William J. McAsey and Robert Lewis. Interment was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
