Tosca Mary Furlane (nee Cipriani), age 79, of Fox Lake formerly of Joliet, died Friday, December 17, 2004, at her home. She was born October. 24, 1925, in DeKalb, Illinois.
Tosca made everyone in her life feel as if they were the most important person in the world. She had a friendly smile with a unique voice to match.
Her hobbies and special interests included knitting (She created beautifully knitted blankets for her children and siblings), crafts, bowling, fishing and traveling. Her collectibles included a Madame Alexander Dolls and Lladró figurines.
Some of the favorite places that she and Frank visited included Europe. That particular trip was made even more special when Frank asked the tour guide to stop at the sign for the town of 'Lucca' so he could take a photograph. Instead, the bus driver drove into Lucca, the town where Tosca's parents and ancestors came from. Other special places included Hawaii, Niagara Falls, Canada and Las Vegas. Something she never thought she would do was whitewater rafting on the Colorado River.
Survivors include her husband Francis E. Furlane with whom she was united in marriage on March 1st, 1944 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale, Illinois.
She was the beloved mother of Laura (Jim) Kasper of St. Peters, Missouri, Mark (Susan) Furlane of Chicago, Debra (Dennis) Smagacz of Libertyville, Scott (Mary Ann) Furlane of Downers Grove, IL and Joyce (Jim) Appel of Valparaiso, Indiana. Seven grandsons, Kevin, Ken, Casey, Kyle, Josh, Titus and Michael; six granddaughters, Kristen (Matt) Stuppy of Overland Park, Kansas, Melissa (Chad) Johnson of Arlington Heights, IL, Erin (Mickey) Kelly of Mundelein, IL, Ashley Furlane of Downers Grove, Illinois, Lauren Smagacz of Libertyville, Illinois and Gahan Furlane of Chicago. Four great grandchildren, Joe, Sarah, Emma and Tosca. Three sisters, Gilda White, Teresa Kezerle and Rosalie Jones, all of Joliet. Other relatives survive including her uncle, George Pacini of Joliet.
Her parents and a brother, Vincent, preceded her in death.
A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at St. Bede Catholic Church, Ingleside, Illinois. Following the mass, a prayer service was held at the Resurrection Cemetery Chapel in Romeoville, Illinois.

In Loving Memory of
TOSCA M. FURLANE

At Rest December 17, 2004

To Those I Love and Those Who Love Us

When I am one, release me, let me go
You must not tie yourself to me with tears;
Just be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
how much you gave to me in happiness;
I thank you for the love you each have shown;
but now it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must;
Then let your grief be comforted by trust;
It's only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart,
I won't be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All my love around you soft and clear!
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and say:
"Welcome Home."
