Some maintain that this woman was born in Columbus, Georgia. No one was born in 1825 in Columbus, which was not established by the state legislature until 1828. Muscogee County (originally much larger) was created 09 JUN 1825, and it's unlikely there many European-Americans residing there in those earliest days, although her father reportedly was one of the original commissioners who helped lay out the town. According to the 1850 census of Columbus, Georgia, and the 1860 & 1870 censuses of Galveston, Texas, she was born in Georgia.

Daughter of Dr. Edwin Louis & Martha S. (KIRKLAND) deGRAFFENREID. Married (purportedly on 27 APR 1854 in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia) to Leslie Atchison THOMPSON, a widower and jurist. (He had previously married 05 APR 1829 in Leon County, Florida, to Jane Martha EVERETT and is buried there with her.) Jane died at the residence of her brother-in-law, Major J. F. WADDELL, at Seale, Alabama. Her funeral service was held at Church of the Holy Family (Catholic) in Columbus.

Entry in Sexton's card file for Linwood Cemetery shows: Mrs. THOMPSON interred 5-21-1883 in the Old Cemetery section (no further data) - Sexton Abraham ODOM. [The card file is an index. While the original burial entry in the sexton's ledger book omits her birth place, age, cause of death, and given names, it does mention that she was buried as a non-resident of Columbus.]

This grave is not identifiably marked.
