Russell Register, 10-10-1902; Seale, Alabama, page 3, published weekly by Tucker & Chadwick.
"It will cause deep and general regret among the people of our community to learn the Dr. Edwin F. deGraffenried died last Sunday afternoon. Dr. deGraffenried formerly resided in Seale for a long number of years with the family of Maj. J. F. Waddell. Upon the removal of Mrs. Waddell to Columbus in 1892 after the Major's death, Dr. deGraffenried went along with the family and lived with them to the date of his death. He was nearly eighty years of age, and while his life was attended with many misfortunes and untoward circumstances it is safe to say that he died without an enemy and passed to the great beyond with naught but benedictions resting upon him.
To those who were especially near and dear to him The Register extends sympathy."
