Mrs. Lucy Laverne Harris, 88, of Lakeland, Florida died early Saturday morning at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Hoboken, Georgia to the late Berry H. Aldridge and Florence Daniels Aldridge. Mrs. Harris lived the majority of her life in Waycross before settling in Lakeland for the past twenty years. She was a devoted housewife who was dedicated to her family and friends and loved every moment she was able to spend with them. Mrs. Harris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, painting, and sewing. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian William Harris, and thirteen brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Harris is survived by her children, Mary Jo Phillips of Lakeland, Florida, Jeffery William Harris of Ocilla, Georgia, Donna Sue Huggins and her husband Moody of Tifton, Georgia, Jane Elaine Andrews and her husband Mark of Lakeland, Florida, David Harris and his wife Faye of Lakeland, Florida, eighteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, a brother, Edwin L. Aldridge of Waycross, a sister, Gloria Evelyn Cox of Waycross and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
