Georgie Vilee Aldridge Whiddon, 88, of Waycross died Friday afternoon (May 25, 2007) at her residence after a short illness. She was born in Ware County to the late Berry Hampton Aldridge and Mettie Chesser Aldridge, and lived here all of her life. Ms. Whiddon was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Mary Martha Sunday School Class and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Belvie Whiddon, one son, Roger Whiddon, three grandsons, Michael Lindon, John K. Lindon, Roger Whiddon, Jr. and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, June Dryden (Eddie), Waycross, Charles Whiddon, Dublin, Kenny Whiddon (Jennifer), Dublin, Joyce Lindon, Waycross, Terry Whiddon, Waycross; two brothers, B. H. Aldridge (Audrey), Waycross, Edwin Aldridge, Waycross, four sisters, Evelyn Fowler, Waycross, Jule Griffin, Brunswick, Lucy Harris, Florida, Mary Jolly, Statenville, GA, 15 grandchildren, Carol Ann Hester(Steve), Keith Dryden (Charman), Chris Dryden, Chuck Whiddon (Diane), Karen Lee (Jim), Brandy Mayo, Clint Whiddon (Dawn), Scott Whiddon (Amber), David Whiddon, Carrie Deraney (George), Kellie Bundy (Martin), Missy Smith (Matt), Tina Whiddon, Shane Whiddon and Rachel Whiddon, 21 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2 :00 at Central Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 - 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
