Elmer Banks, 68, Oldenburg, Ind., died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 29, 1992.

He was born March 10, 1924 in Owsley County, Kentucky, the son of Andrew and Lola Thomas Banks. He lived in Franklin County most of his life. He retired in 1977 from General Motors in Fairfield, Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the Light House Gospel Tabernacle in Metamora, Ind.

On June 5, 1941, he married Elsie Peters in Batavia, Ohio, and she survives; with his mother, Lola Banks, of Oldenburg; two sons, Leroy Banks, Blooming Grove Ind., and Dean Banks of Chelsea, Mass.; one daughter, Lorraine Murry, Oldenburg; three brothers, Ralph Banks, Brookville, Ind., Vernon Banks, Cincinnati, Ohio and Claude Banks, of Whitcomb, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Ambrose (Opal) Kruthaupt, Metamora, Ind.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Light House Gospel Tabernacle in Metamora, Ind.

Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville, Ind.

Visitation will be at the Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home in Brookville, Ind., from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
