Brookville - Lola Banks Smith, 92, Brookville Health Care Center, formerly of Oldenburg, died Sunday, Feb. 12 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville.
She was born June 2, 1902 in Owsley County, Ky., to Andy and Ciller Burch Thomas. She was a homemaker and had lived at Island City, Ky., before coming to Franklin County in 1937.
Survivors include one daughter, Opal Kruthaupt of Metamora; three sons, Ralph Banks and Claude Banks both of Brookville and Vernon Banks of Milford, Ohio; one sister Goldie Bowels of Batavia, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Elmer Banks.
Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, Brookville with Rev. Jack Botts officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral.
