Brazil Clay County Enterprise December 20, 1882
"Died, in Harmony, Dec. 13th, of typhoid fever, at the age of 64 years, John Martin, Sr. Deceased was a hard working and well respected citizen, having lived among us many years. He leaves a wife and a large family of sons and daughters to mourn his loss. He was buried at Calcutta cemetery on Thursday."
John was most likely born in Westmoreland county, PA although his parentage is not certain. He was most likely the son of Charles and Sarah Martin from Ireland. I have been unable to find a marriage certificate for him and Isabel.
