Mrs. W. Thomas Dies At Harmony Of Pneumonia

Mrs. Lucinda Thomas, widow of Winfield Thomas, died at 8:35 Sunday evening at the home at Carbon after a short illness of pneumonia, aged 79 years and 27 days.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Westmoreland county, Pennnsylvania, but came to Clay county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Martin, when a child. For many years the deceased resided at Harmony but the past 25 years she had made her home at Carbon. Mrs. Thomas had been a member of the Christian church for many years.

She is survived by five daughters and three sons, Mrs. Delia Bell of VanBuren township; Mrs. Maudie Wilson, of Harmony; Mrs. Lottie McHargue of Parke county; Mrs. Blanche Lark, of Universal; Mrs. Margaret Briggs, of Carbon; Oscar, Clifford, and Scottie Thomas of Carbon; also 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Henry Martin, of Harmony and Leonard Martin, of Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at the Carbon M.E. church at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, interment Calumet cemetery.
