Mrs. W. T. Brown Died Last Night

Mrs. Isabel Brown, wife of Wm. Brown, died at the home on east Pinckley street at 8:30 last night. She had been in poor health for the past four years but her condition was not serious until about three weeks ago when she contracted influenza. She had partially recovered from this illness and was able to sit up occasionally when she was stricken with paralysis last Thursday evening, from which she never recovered.

Mrs. Brown was born in Pennsylvania, Jan. 14, 1855 and at the time of her death was 74 years and 13 days of age. She was the daughter of John and Isabel Martin who came to Indiana from Pennsylvania about 66 years ago and settled in the neighborhood south of Knightsville. Later the family moved to Harmony and on Dec. 28, 1875 the deceased was united in marriage to William T. Brown. For many years Mr. and Mrs. Brown lived on a farm at Calcutta. Then about 25 years ago they moved to Carbon where they resided for the next six years. For the past 19 years they had made their home in Brazil, with the exception of 2 years spent in Oklahoma and New Mexico.

Mrs. Brown was the mother of quite a large family and leaves to mourn her passing , besides the husband, two daughters and six sons. They are: Mrs. Joe Berrisford, of Clinton; Mrs. Roy Phyne, city; William Brown of Kokomo; John and Clem of Indianapolis; Roy of St. Louis, Mo; Luther and Otis of this city. There is also a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Lucinda Thomas of Carbon; Henry Martin of Harmony and Leonard Martin of near Clinton. There are also 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brown had been a member of the United Brethren church from many years. She was a devout christian woman and a devoted mother. Because of her infirmaties, she had been unable to associate herself with church work for several years but she had never lost sight of her teachings and bore her great suffering with true christian patience. The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon but since arrangements have not been completed they will be announnced tomorrrow.
