Alger's paternal father was James Lee Retherford. Who served the military during 1953 he was stationed in Houston, Texas. Living on base Mom had to be transported to the city hospital for the birth of her second son. He and his family were from the same area. After the death of their first born son in July of 1954, She continued to live on the military base. Mom left him for fear he would take her unborn child. He was still in the military and It is highly unlikely that he knew he had a second son born after their separation. His whereabouts since then have been unknown.

Mom had already reached Louisiana in search of her parents when Alger was born in Louisiana. He was later raised from around the age 2 on by Louis "L.J." Crochet Sr. and chose at a young age to be involved in a in crime in which he was imprisoned for 80 years followed by a life sentence in Parchman Miss State Penn. It has been said that he fathered a son while allowed to reside in housing provided on prison grounds. However he has never talked to me about it nor did I want to ask. I felt it was his privacy side of life.
