Sharon's paternal father was James Lee Retherford. Whom she never knew. She was raised from birth by her father Louis "L.J." Crochet Sr., To her he was her only father. By the time she was 14/15 years old, she fell in love. And though both families tried to prevent the marriage between them, They did married. Her husband Roy was about as young as she was, but they had a plan and for them many trials came afterwards. In time they purchased a trailer and place it on a piece of land that Roy had already paid off. And while residing in it in Bayou Blue their family began, She had her first daughter and they were ready to move on with building their own home. In which they did themselves, Roy drew out his own plans and when the foundation was done, when the outer walls and roof were up. He began working on the first bedroom, when it was completed they moved into that one room. It was like they built the house up around them. She mothered another child before it was done. And went on to add more children to their family. Sharon was a mother to everyone around her throughout her entire life. Her house was always full of people. Whenever a family member needed a place they would open their doors. I don't think they ever had the house to themselves after it was completed. Their were a lot of memories made it that house both good and bad. We used to gather to play weekend card games at a 8 foot table he built in it or to clean fish and seafood and even a few gators now and then. But one of the funniest memories was that before she really knew how to cook she was being taught to fry frog legs by her husband and he deliberately failed to cut the muscles. I until today can remember her screams and facial expressions when them frog legs started jumping out of the frying pan at her. I never seen something so funny, that it still brings laughter out in me after all these years. In 1987 they decided they were ready to start on another house and chosed to leave Bayou Blue for they had their eyes set on Georgia. Mom and Dad and some of my other siblings had also left the state prior to them. But we all knew If ever they were going to spread their wings, They had to make their own decisions and just do it. So they did and it wasn't long before they found the land they wanted. I sure did miss her. I myself decided to leave two years later and honestly after she found out where I moved it didn't take her long and she and her family came to visit all of us. When she left she told me she would be back for me and my kids and that didn't take long either. I would say it was about 6 months or less. They began building it themselves with whatever help they could get in between. Soon our parents followed us to Georgia and then the siblings came. The house went up faster as he had the man power to help him. But let me tell you he done taught her how to hold a straight face. Cause she sure didn't tell me by facial expressions that sticking my finger in the light socket when she told me to do so when he turned on the power, nor that it would throw me off the table onto the floor but I sure learned it would. And trust me I didn't think it was as funny as they did. Ole those were some good times shared. But sadly for us all as they weren't totally finished with it before her life was cut short by a vehicle accident. She worked hard at it, It was almost like a mini farm with the planting, caring for the chickens and her flowers and rose bushes. Living in the house their dreams was based upon. She always had something to do. They both did whatever it took to make their dreams become a reality with their five children Jeanie, Roy Jr., Connie, Jason and Joshua Bourg (who was her maternal nephew by birth) at their side. I can't say she had a easy life as she was always working either caring for her family, extended family or her jobs. She was just tired, she never seem to quit. The injuries were miner but the stress wasn't. She didn't have the strength to pull through. What I can say is she succeeded in doing what most can not in a full life time, if it was a will she would find the way. Caring for every thing and everyone came as natural to her as motherhood. We all felt a great lost when she was involved in that car accident that took her life and she will be forever missed by us all...We love you to all the way to the heavens Sis everyday of every year. You will never be forgotten...
