Valarian A. Junk, age 98, of Taus, passed away early Sunday morning, July 2, 2017 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center of Manitowoc.

Valarian was born on April 4. 1919, at Cleveland, son of the late Henry and Wanda (Stefaniak) Junk. On September 25, 1941, he married the former Mayme A. Shoulak at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. In the past, Valarian worked as a cheesemaker and a machinist. He farmed in the town of Franklin for 42 years retiring in 1985.

Valarian was a member of the Packerland Region of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America (VCCA) for 38 years and was the proud owner of many restored Chevrolets. He was a member of the Branch River Watershed Group, Happy Hoppers Polka Dance Group and was instrumental in the organizing of the Lakeshore Humane Society.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Joan (John) Dvorak, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Howard (Jessica) Junk, Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Dean (Tonya) Dvorak; Barbara (Scott) Kakuk; Lee (Wendy) Dvorak; Luke (Kate) Junk; Lindsay Junk; ten great-grandchildren: Jacob Kakuk; Salena Kakuk; Olivia Kakuk; Madelyn Kakuk; Emma Dvorak; Elizabeth Dvorak; Grace Dvorak; Hannah Dvorak; Nathanael Junk; Eleanor Grace Junk; two great-great-grandchildren: Bristol Kakuk; Nora Kakuk; one brother and sister-in-law: Kenneth (Jeanette) Junk, Manitowoc; one sister: Dorothy Dondlinger, Manitowoc, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Wanda Junk; his wife: Mayme Junk; one daughter; Kathleen Junk; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Donald Junk; Ervin (Annette) Junk; two sisters and three brothers-in-law: Geraldine (Ferdinand) Behnke; Frank Dondlinger; Audrey (Robert) Burkart.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 1124 Main Street, Kellnersville. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Reifs Mills. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name.
