She was the daughter of Henry and Louise (Arnez) Heider.
Janet was a housewife, a seamstress, she worked at the Century Café and sold Avon for over 50 years.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to many. Janet adored being around family and loved on her grand and great-grandbabies.
Janet She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Lostant where she was involved in the women's club.
She and Harlan married on May 4, 1946 and enjoyed 69 years of marital bliss. They lived most of their lives in Lostant.
Janet is survived by five children, Sandra (Dean) Valentine of Citrus Hills, Florida, Randy (Vicki) Strode of Tavares, Florida, Kenneth (Gina) Strode of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Joy (John) Coons of Tonica and Kathy (Dave) Cooke of Streator; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Barr of Lostant, JoAnn 'Tootie' (Bob) Henderson of Geneseo and Donna Smaling of Normal and two brothers, Eugene 'Snick' Heider of Lostant and Alan (Joyce) Heider of Streator.
She was preceded in death by her her husband, Harlan Strode; her parents; her sister, Maxine Brierly and three brothers, Roy, Russell and Richard Heider.
Arrangements are entrusted to Mueller Funeral Home in Lostant.
