Mae Alberta Kent was born at the family's home in Woodburn, Oregon on April 28, 1925 to Albert Sylvanus "Bert" and Ina Crystal (Long) Kent. She spent her childhood in the Woodburn area and attended the Elliott Prairie School there.

After the completion of her schooling, Mae moved to Portland, Oregon and began working at the ship building plant there. Not long after, she was briefly married to Lt. Timothy "Timm" McGray and the couple was blessed with the birth of a beautiful baby girl in the fall of 1945. They were divorced the following year.

She was later remarried to the love of her life, Valentine Hugh Brewer, on October 19, 1947 in Vancouver, Washington. The couple briefly resided in Portland, where Mae was employed at the Pendleton Woolen Mill Store for a short period of time. A few years later, in the spring of 1952, they were blessed with the birth of a sweet little girl.

For over 25 years Hugh and Mae lived in the Oregon City area and were members of the Clairmont Riders there. During this time Hugh owned and operated a barber shop while Mae devoted herself to being an attentive homemaker.

Mae and Hugh enjoyed a long, loving marriage and in 2008 they were lucky enough to celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary. Sadly, ten days later Hugh preceded her in death on October 30th.

Shortly after Hugh's passing, Mae decided to relocate to Tillamook so she could be closer to her family. A few months later, she became a member of The Red Hat Society. She genuinely loved attending each and every function hosted by the society and the wonderful people she had the pleasure of becoming friends with. She was also a devout member of the Baptist faith.

Aside from spending as much time as she could with her loving family, Mae's biggest passions were gardening and baking. She absolutely loved tending to her beautiful flowers and baking up as many goodies as she could. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting for many years--until the hobby became too difficult for her to continue--and in her younger years she often spent her time horseback riding.

Mae passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at her home in Tillamook, Oregon. She went peacefully after a long and lingering illness surrounded by her loving family.

A graveside funeral service is set to be held at 1 p.m. on 17 October 2017 in the Rock Creek Cemetery near Canby, Oregon. Her parents are interred here and it is her wish to rest near them eternally*.

Besides her parents and loving husband, Mae was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Hackett, Viona Darby and Wilma Ruhl; two brothers, Rev. Roscoe Kent and Richard Donald Kent; four children, two infant daughters and two infant sons**; and two great-grandchildren, Joey Barteau and Abby Burns.

Mae is survived by her two loving daughters; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sixteen great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Crivella; and one brother, Ray Kent.
