During the early 1940s, Bertha worked in the shipyards in Portland alongside her sisters Wilma and Mae. She met her future husband, Paul Crivella, on a trip to Rockaway Beach in the mid-1940s. The couple was wed on 22 February 1948 in Twin Rocks and settled in nearby Brighton to start their family together. It was here that the couple was blessed with three children--Sheryl, Jeanne, and Phillip.
In 1962, Bertha and Paul moved their little family into Tillamook. They spent the next 56 years together there, raising and enjoying their family, until Paul's passing in 2003.
During her lifetime Bertha was a very hard worker and held many rewarding jobs. In her free time, Bertha enjoyed spending as much time in the company of her family as she could. She also doted on her loyal sidekick Princie--her adorable and very well-loved poodle--as often as possible. When Bertha wasn't simply enjoying the company of her loved ones, she could usually be found hanging out at a Red Hat event with her fellow Tilly's Scarlett Divas.
Sadly, on 30 August 2021 Bertha passed away in Tillamook following a short illness. She was laid to rest near her sister Mae in a private, graveside service at the Rock Creek Cemetery in Canby, Oregon on 8 September 2021.
Bertha was a loving and nurturing daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother (to 3 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchilden), and friend. She will be greatly missed by absolutely everyone who had the wonderful pleasure of knowing her.
