Thanks to Richard & Jeanie Kimble for the right names, taken from the Alt & Kimble book.

Saturday evening between four and five o'clock, two children of Perry Kimble's whose mother is dead and who were staying at Jack Self's, were burned to death in a fire that destroyed the Self home.
Mrs. Self and another woman left the house to go over to a field for fodder. They put the two children, aged about three and four years in the yard until they returned. After awhile they came back and found the house in flames. They tried to get in but the door was fastened and in a short time the house was burned to the ground.
It is thought the children took the dog, went into the house, turned a button, used to fasten the door, and in some way started the fire, with the result that both children and the dog were consumed in the burning building.
Squire Roby went to the scene Sunday evening, confirmed the above and deemed an inquest unnecessary.
