GAMBRILLS, MD – Iris McGinnis, 91 of Gambrills, Maryland died Monday, April 22, 2019. Born and raised in Spanishburg, WV she was the daughter of the late Sam and Birdie Basham Shrewsbury.

Iris lived in Severna Park, Maryland for 45 years. She was a homemaker. She retired to Princeton for over 25 years. She lived with daughter, Robin until her death.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Dayton McGinnis in February 2005; brothers, Roy Shrewsbury, Hassell Shrewsbury, Cledith Shrewsbury and Wardie Shrewsbury and sisters, Goldie Sonak, Maudie McKinney, Amanda Akers, Elsie Cook and Noma Lilly.

Survivors include daughter, Robin Lancaster and husband Bucky of Gambrills, Maryland; son, Michael McGinnis and wife Janet of Pasadena, Maryland; two grandchildren, Tara Marcel and husband Joe of Charlotte, North Carolina and Tim McGinnis and wife Minnie of Allen, Texas; four great grandchildren, Elise, Margot, Lacey and Corey and one great great grandchild, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Bowling Cemetery in Spanishburg.
