Mercy Rachel PETTIS married Charles 'Charlie' R. LUTHULTZ on 10 October 1892 at Eagle Lake, Blue Earth County, Minnesota by William Brown HILL (Seventh Day Adventist Elder).
Mercy and Charley LUTHULTZ moved to Canyon County, Idaho in the late 1890's. Mercy's sister Celia PETTIS wife of Henry Slocum STARK and her family had moved a short time earlier.
Mercy was the mother of one child, a daughter Illa Maude LUTHULTZ born 2 December 1893 near Eagle Lake, Minnesota.
Mercy apparently did not like living in the west so far from the rest of her family. She died in Parma, Canyon County, Idaho on 14 August 1901 leaving her 7 year old daughter without a mother's care.
Charley LUTHULTZ and his daughter came back to Minnesota a short time later.
