The following was contributed by Dean Milton PETTIS, genealogist, Mankato, Minnesota.

Ira Glen PETTIS was born 10 June 1886 in Kasota Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota son of John Luman PETTIS and 2nd wife Sarah Jane HILL PETTIS. Ira died on 7 April 1962 in Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho. He came to Idaho in 1943 for health reasons, he had Asthma and the dry climate would help. Ira and wife Martha came to Canyon County with some of the younger children. They were parents of nine children, some stayed in Minnesota. Ira and family settled near Roswell where his half-sister Celia PETTIS STARK, her husband Henry Slocum STARK and their family lived. Another half-sister Mercy Rachel PETTIS LUTHULTZ (Mrs. Charles 'Charley' R. LUTHULTZ) also lived near Roswell and is buried in Roswell Cemetery.
Ira was concerned that the canal just above the Roswell Cemetery would one day burst and send water to cover the cemetery grounds so he chose to buy plots in Parma Cemetery. I am a grandson of Ira and Martha PETTIS.
