Born 1807 in Missouri. Son of Griffith and Penelope Nation.

Married Rebecca Nelson English on 15 August, 1833 in Greene County, Illinois. Farmer who purchased 40 acres in Macoupin County in 1835 for fifty dollars, at section 14, TWP 09N Range 07N, Meridian 3.

He is found on the 1840 US Census for Greene County, IL page 79, line 8.

Foster fathered three children with Rebecca: Nancy Elizabeth Brown (1837-1923-IL); Mary E. Brown (1839-1909-IL); and Foster A. Brown Jr. (1842-IL). Nancy married David Burleyson, Mary never married, and Foster married Minerva Combs.

Foster was only 35 years of age at his death.
