She was born August 24, 1924 in Shenandoah, VA to the late Virgil Clay and Nora Belle (Propes) Batman.

Virginia was employed by the Augusta County school system at West Waynesboro School as cafeteria manager. The children loved her and called her "Miss Jenny." She was a faithful member of West Waynesboro Church of Christ. As a church member she enjoyed assisting in the kitchen and serving in the nursery. She was also a member of Waynesboro Chapter #105 of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, husband, and children she was preceded in death by brothers, Graville, David, Walter; sisters, Annie Foltz Davis, Eva Mae Auwater, Francis Davis, and Mary Fields.

She is survived by her grandson, Michael Thorton; sister, Emma Belle Rankin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a special person to her, Greg Hensley.

Those wishing may sign the register book and pay their respect from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Rd., Waynesboro with Chad Grondin officiating.

All who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Virginia's loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Augusta Health, C/O Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939 or West Waynesboro Church of Christ, 2212 Cortland St., Waynesboro, VA 22980.
