James F. Smith, 76, of Moline, IL, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Genesis Medical Center-Emergency Room, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline.

Jim was born December 16, 1944, in Moline, IL, the youngest of five born to Cleo A. and Augusta M. (Bleyaert) Smith. Jim attended schools in Moline. He married Carol Nahrgang, and to this union two children were born Deanna and Robert "Bobby" Smith. In March 1971, he and his family mourned the tragic loss of his son, Bobby Smith (Age 2) after he was struck and killed by a truck. After the loss of their son, Jim and Carol divorced after 23 years of marriage. He later married the love of his life, Mary Jane (Patten) Heimer-Horn on May 25, 1989. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2016. He later married Juning Cui on Feburary 1, 2021.

James had been employed for over 58 years with International Union of Operating Engineers - IUOE - Local 150 as a Heavy Equipment Operator.

James was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers - IUOE - Local 150.

He loved working around his house and garage. James was able to repair and build about anything. You often would find him at Maid-Rite enjoying a cup of coffee with his buddies in the morning. Jim was of the Catholic Faith. Jim will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Jim is survived by a wife, Juning Cui "Lisa"; daughter, step-son, five grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Augusta; wife, Jane; son, Bobby Smith; brothers, Donald John Smith and Father Robert J. Smith, and sisters, Nancy Mary (Smith) Byrd, and Mary Ann Smith in infancy.
