MIKE TEETER
INDUCTION 2005
SPORT(S) Special Category
He has graciously supported and volunteered his time to Cornell athletics for over 40 years, working with the men's hockey, lacrosse and football programs. In men's hockey, his role has been two-fold, as equipment manager on the road and as a goal judge at Lynah Rink since 1963. Teeter ran the game clock for the men's lacrosse games at Lower Alumni Field before the team moved to its present home at Schoellkopf Field in 1973.
Since the move to Schoellkopf, he has also served as a traveling equipment manager. In addition to his duties with the men's hockey and lacrosse teams, he has been the head of the chain gang at Cornell home football games since 1973.
He has been a part of two national championship teams in hockey and three in lacrosse.
Teeter has worked on the sidelines for two of Cornell's three Ivy League football championship teams. He has also helped raise money for the three programs with his handcrafted clocks and lamps that are sold at the teams' auctions to benefit their individual budgets.
Over his many years with Cornell athletics, he has befriended and served as a father figure to thousands of student-athletes.
He retired as a maintenance engineer with the Department of the Army after 34 years of service and makes his home in Ithaca.
