STONE -- Arta Parmelee, passed away on February 13, 1996 at Putnam City Convalescent Center after a long illness. A life-long resident of Capitol Hill, Mrs. Stone was the daughter of the late Arthur Hugh Parmelee and Edna Gehring Parmelee. She married Griffith P. Stone on February 14, 1936. Mrs. Stone was a dedicated member of the Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church and was active in many capacities. Following in her educator Father's footsteps, she taught English at Capitol Hill Junior High School for over 30 years. An accomplished musician, she shared her talents throughout all phases of her life. She enjoyed working with the youth and was devoted to her many students. Hers was truly a life of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Griffith P. Stone, her sister, Margaret Johnson Capshaw and her brother, Billy Gene Parmelee. She is survived by her sisters, Edna Christine Shannonhouse of OKC and Aletha June Moore of OKC; her brother, Robert Lee Parmelee of Muskogee, Ok. She enjoyed her 12 nieces and nephews, Mariorie Loewen, Lou Ann King, Myrna Benson, Phyllis McCollum, Joe Shannonhouse IV, Kathleen Burns, Hugh Shannonhouse, Becky Shannonhouse, Sharon Taff, Johnny Parmelee, Pamela Faye, Billy Parmelee and 29 grand nieces and nephews. Lying in state at Hunter Funeral Home, 2427 S. Harvey, OKC, Thursday thru Sunday, 8 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Services will be held on Monday, February 19, 1996, at 2 p.m., at the Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 4747 NW 63 St., OKC, with interment to follow at the Fairlawn Cemetery, OKC, Ok.
