ONE DEAD and THREE HURT
A youth was fatally injured in a car accident while he was driving his mother and younger brother on the Main South Road about 4.30pm yesterday. He was:
David Bruce, aged 17 of 31 Windsor Crescent, Christchurch.
Dr J. F. Landreth of 103 Hackthorne Road who was driving the other car involved in the head on collision near Burnham township was admitted to hospital with a broken nose and facial lacerations.
The other occupants of the car driven by David Bruce - Mrs Florence Bruce and Gordon Bruce - were also admitted to hospital.
The condition of the three was described last evening as satisfactory.
Mr Bruce suffered severe lacerations of the throat after the windscreen of his car had been smashed and died in hospital about two hours after the accident.
The road is straight at the scene of the accident and visibility was good.
