Laura DiGuilio was born in Porcari, Italy November 15, 1871.

Porcari is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Lucca in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 50 km west of Florence and about 8 km east of Lucca.

She grew up in Capannori which was near Lucca, Italy where she met and married, Vincenzo 'Vincent' Cipriani. Laura was 8 months older than he.

Laura was 24 years old when she had her first child - Peter in 1895; a year later, in 1896, Clementine was born. Both children died in infancy while still in Italy.

Vincenzo and Laura came to the United States of America on June 3, 1911, where Vincent found employment in the copper mines in Houghton, Michigan. Later they moved to DeKalb, Illinois where Vincent found work with the U.S. Steel Corporation.

Laura and Vincent were 39 years old when they came to the United States.

Laura died April 5, 1950.

Mrs. Cipriani Passes Away at Hospital

Mrs. Laura Cipriani, age 78 of 647 North 5th Street, a resident of DeKalb for over 30 years, died Thursday evening, April 6, 1950, shortly before midnight at St. Mary's Hospital.

She was born November 11, 1871 in Lucca, Italy, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter DiGuillo and was united in marriage to Vincenzo Cipriani in
1895 in Lucca, Italy.

Mrs. Cipriani was a member of the St. Mary's Church and the Altar & Rosary Society.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph and Don Cipriani, both of Joliet; four daughters, Mrs. Fannie (William) Petrocchi, Mrs. Livia (Emanuel) Gelli, Mrs. Rose (Edward) Wagley and Mary Cipriani, all of DeKalb; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and a sister in Italy.

Her husband and two children preceded her in death.

The rosary will be said Sunday evening at 8 o'clock at the Ronan Mortuary. Friends may call at the mortuary from noon Sunday until the time of the service.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock from St. Mary Church with Rev. Charles Quinn officiating.

Interment: St. Mary Cemetery, DeKalb.
