Professional Baseball Player. She was the former starting pitcher in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) for the only team in the league she played for, the Fort Wayne Daisies from 1948 until the league folded in 1954. After graduating from high school she signed a contract with the league in 1948. Prior to her professional career she played basketball for her high school, North Adams High School which had three undefeated seasons. In her professional career she played in 196 games, of which she had a win/loss record of 116/96 and an ERA of 2.05. She made the AAGPBL All-Stars 5 times (1950-1954), made seven playoff appearances (1948-'54) and pitched two no-hitters (1949, 1954). After the league folded she and several other players selected by former Daisies manager Bill Allington were selected to play for the national touring team known as the All-Americans in 100 games from 1955 to 1957 against all male teams.
