Georgia A. Cecil, 95, of the Carmel Home, formerly of West Louisville, died Wednesday, July 13, 1994, at the Carmel Home. She was born in Daviess County and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She was the daughter of William A. & Roxie Ann Vowels Mattingly. Her husband, Charles Leo Cecil, died in 1987. A daughter, Sister George Ann Cecil, preceded her in death. Survivors include six sons, Hugh Cecil of Stanley, Bernard Cecil of West Louisville, Bob Cecil of Owensboro, Leon Cecil of St. Louis, and Paul J. & Frank Cecil, both of Sorgho; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marie) Simmons and Mrs. J.C. (Mildred) Higdon, both of Owensboro; 50 grandchildren; and 94 great-grandchildren. Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, St. Joseph. Burial in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro, where prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Sister George Ann Cecil Scholarship Fund, Brescia College, 717 Frederica St., Owensboro, KY 42303. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
