ROBERT L. "BOBBY" CECIL, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born April 25, 1932 to the late Charlie and Georgie Mattingly Cecil in Daviess County. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and was the previous owner of Cecil's Florist for 17 years. He retired from W. R. Grace after 36 years of service, and enjoyed his river camp, boating, and pitching horseshoes. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sr. George Ann Cecil and a brother, Bernard Cecil. Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Roberta "Bobbi" Cecil; seven children, Becky Murphy of Owensboro, Mike Cecil of Owensboro, Vonda Morris and her husband, James of Owensboro, Robert L. Cecil, Jr. of Chicago, IL, Tim Cecil and his wife, Melody of Owensboro, Sandra Shacklett and her husband, Steve of Owensboro, and Jill Cecil of Chicago, IL; three step-children, Angela Dean and her husband, Mack of Owensboro, Tony McCracken and his wife, Shannon of Monticello, KY, and Nicole Wright and her husband, Brian of Liberty, KY; twelve grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Hugh Cecil and his wife, Betty of Owensboro, Leon Cecil and his wife, Missy of Tampa, FL, Paul Cecil and his wife, Beverly of Owensboro, and Frankie Cecil and his wife, Rita of Owensboro; two sisters, Marie Simmons of Owensboro, and Mildred Higdon and her husband, I.C. of Owensboro; a sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Cecil of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, at Immaculate Catholic Church with burial in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, with prayers at 6:00 PM, at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation Friday will be after 8:30 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Peace Mission, P.O. Box 1048, Owensboro, KY 42302.
