Charles was the son of Sylvester Clement Cecil & Eva Regina Hayden. He married Georgia Ann Mattingly on 5 April 1921 & they had 10 children. from Lillie Riney

Charles L. Cecil, 89, of West Louisville died Tuesday, February 3, 1987 at the Carmel Home, Owensboro. He was born in Daviess County, was a retired farmer and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Georgia Cecil; six sons, Hugh Cecil of Stanley, Bernard Cecil of West Louisville, Bob Cecil of Owensboro, Leon Cecil of St. Louis, MO and Paul J. & Frank Cecil both of Sorgho; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marie) Simmons and Mrs. J.C. (Mildred) Higdon, both of Owensboro; 50 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, St. Joseph. Burial in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation after 2 p.m. today at Glenn Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 7 p.m. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Sister Georgia Ann Cecil Scholarship Fund, Brescia College, 120 W. Seventh St., Owensboro, KY 42301. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
