DEATH CLAIMS ORPHA PUMROY, KOUTS WOMAN

Funeral services for Mrs. Orpha Emily Pumroy, age 74 years, widow of the late Neil Power Pumroy, who did Christmas day at 8:20 am at her home in Kouts, of perniocious anemia, following a three weeks' illness, were held this afternoon at two o'clock at the Christian Church in Kouts, conducted by the Rev. M. G. Long, of the Boone Grove Christian Church.
Pallbearers at the rites were William Schwonke, L. B. Wise, DeSilver Lyons, Frank Mansfield and Lawrence Starkey. Burial was in Cornwell cemetery.
Mrs. Pomroy was born in Boone Township, Porter county, on January 14, 1859, a daughter of Lewis K. and Neona (Dye) Brody. She was united in marriage on December 26, 1876, in Hebron, to Neil P. Pumroy died on May 30, 1930.
Surviving are three sons, Aaron Pumroy, of Valparaiso; George and Edwin Pumroy, of Kouts; one brother, George P. Brody, of Hebron, four sisters, Mrs. Fannie Craley, of Kouts; Mrs. Euphama Lightfoot of Valparaiso; Miss Hannah Brody of Boone Grove and Mrs. Lodema Arnold of Kouts. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
She was united with the Christian church at Old Boone Grove in 1877. Since that time she has been a faithful believer of the redemption of the promises made to those who love and serve Him. During the last thirty years of her life she has experienced ill health, but bore up under her suffering with patience and fortitude.

Mrs. Herman Hoffmeister of Gary, Orville Williamson of Hammond and Elmer Williamson of Gary, attended the funeral of Mrs. Orpha Pumroy, which was held at the Christian church of Kouts Tuesday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schultz of Valparaiso, Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Ritter of Valparaiso, attended the funeral fo Mrs. Orpha Pumroy on Tuesday afternoon.
A large number of sorrowing relatives and friends gathered at the Christian Church Tuesday afternoon for the last rites of Mrs. Orpha Pumroy. The casket was a huge mass of beautiful flowers, a testimony of the love of her friends. Mrs. Pumroy was a woman of pleasing genial personality who made many friends. The bereaved families have the sympathy of this entire community in their hours of sorrow.
