Chester was born December 20, 1930 to the late John and Veronica (Smolinski) Kapala in Presque Isle. He served in the Army during the Korean War where he belonged to the infantry division heavy mortar. Chester was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church as well as the Knights of Columbus, and truly enjoyed his time spent with his grandkids. He is survived by his five children; Mike (Donna) Kapala of Reno, NV, Patricia Shorkey of Bullhead, AZ, Randy Kapala of Ypsilanti, Lisa Kapala of Palm Harbor, FL, Sandra (Jesse) Kollien of Alpena, 10 garndchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and his sister Martha. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years; Arlene, and 9 siblings.
