Moses was the beloved son of Nancy C. Jarman and James "Jim" Philyaw (who was also married to Nancy's sister Mary C. "Polly" Jarman before her passing somewhere after 1885; Jim and Mary C. Jarman had six children--Clarra born in 1848; Frederick born in 1850; Robert born in 1852; Nancy J. born in 1854; David born in 1857 and Zachariah born in 1859. Moses siblings were Mary Susan "Sukey", born in 1864-1879; and Joseph "Job" born in 1866-1835 who married Lennie Jones and had six children. Moses married Hester Matilda Shivers on February 18, 1884 (daughter of Samuel E. Shivers and Mattie Peteway Shivers born in 1826). Their children were Cora Florence Jarman born Feb. 8, 1886 and married Solomon Rhodes; James Mabra Jarman born Sept. 15, 1887 and married Bessie K. Willis; John Robert "Johnny" Jarman born Sept. 26, 1889 and married Nellie Wells; Nase Samuel "Nace" Jarman born Sept. 28, 1891 and married Lula Bell Marshburn; Mary Matilda Jarman born Sept. 27, 1893 and married John Lewis Jarman from Jones County; Hester Mittia (Hett) born May 7, 1896 and who married Alva Leslie Marshburn; Temie Corilla Jarman born March 5, 1901 and who married Walter Leamon Gould. Moses farmed land which now belongs to the Bertie Smith descendents. His wife Hester died March 3, 1924 and is buried next to him.
